I grew up in the Imperial Valley in the cities of Imperial and El Centro California.

My father was first an aircraft mechanic and crop duster pilot and then pilot for Imperial Airlines.

I virtually grew up at the airport in Imperial at Visco Flying Co. enjoying hours of time in the sky flying with my Dad.

He took me flying in all kinds of airplanes and taught me to fly.

At age 15 I flew my first solo flight and got my pilots license. Thanks Dad.

Robert Wadlow with his father

Robert Pershing Wadlow (February 22, 1918 – July 15, 1940) also known as the Alton Giant and the Giant of Illinois, is the tallest person in history for whom there is irrefutable evidence. The Alton and Illinois monikers reflect the fact that he was born and grew up in Alton, Illinois.

Wadlow reached 8 ft 11.1 in (2.72 m) in height and weighed 439 lb (199 kg) at his death at age 22. His great size and his continued growth in adulthood were due to hyperplasia of his pituitary gland, which results in an abnormally high level of human growth hormone. He showed no indication of an end to his growth even at the time of his death. (read more)

what is the most important thing ?

…the most important thing

is the family of man.

the urge to merge

…the primary human motivations are…

…food, sleep and sex…

…feeble human mores are no match for…

…hunger for food…

…the need to sleep and…

…the urge to merge…

…you will never stop the hormonal tides…

…insemination will result in pregnancies…

…does a zygote rise to the level of “human being?”…

…shall we endow a microscopic cell mass with “full human rights?”

…shall we force every impregnated women to carry to full term and give birth?…

…perhaps we should offer free and available birth control instead and…

…counsel women on how to prevent unwanted pregnancies…

…no one should be using abortion as a form of “birth control”…

…pro-life…pro-choice…both want to reduce abortions…

…anti-choice…pro-abortion…are “loaded words”…

…who wants an abortion?…

…nobody…wants an abortion…

…why do women have abortions?…

…mostly one reason…an unwanted pregnancy…

…why are there unwanted pregnancies?…

…the mistake is getting pregnant when you don’t want to…

…abstinence, sex education and birth control products…

…are the only ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies…

…shouldn’t we employ every practical method to reduce abortions?…

…if you are pro-life or pro-choice you have an obligation to support sex education and the availability of free birth control for the prevention of unwanted pregnancies…in addition to this you have an obligation to protest and vote against:

the global arms trade…

the death penalty…

the war machine and all war…

…to reduce abortions we must prevent unwanted pregnancies with:

abstinence education…

detailed sex education…

readily available birth control products for free…

state supported womens clinics for reproductive health…

…abortions have declined worldwide as access to family planning education and contraceptive services has increased.

Question…

“What do you think matters most in marriage?”

Answer…

“A short memory.”

good wife

Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have be thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.

Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you’ll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.

Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.

Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives. Run a dustcloth over the tables.

During the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering to his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.

Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.

Be happy to see him.

Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.

Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first – remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.

Don’t greet him with complaints and problems.

Don’t complain if he’s late for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through at work.

Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or lie him down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.

Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.

Don’t ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity.

Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.

A good wife always knows her place.

Mother and Child
Pablo Picasso 1922

“From woman, man is born;

within woman, man is conceived;

to woman he is engaged and married.

Woman becomes his friend;

through woman, the future generations come.

When his woman dies,

he seeks another woman;

to woman he is bound.

So why call her bad?

From her, kings are born.

From woman, woman is born;

without woman, there would be no one at all.

O Nanak, only the True Lord is without a woman”

One Human Family

“Whether we like it or not, we have all been born on this earth as part of one great human family. Rich or poor, educated or uneducated, belonging to one nation or another, to one religion or another, adhering to this ideology or that, ultimately each of us is just a human being like everyone else: we all desire happiness and do not want suffering. Furthermore, each of us has an equal right to pursue these goals.

Today’s world requires that we accept the oneness of humanity. In the past, isolated communities could afford to think of one another as fundamentally separate and even existed in total isolation. Nowadays, however, events in one part of the world eventually affect the entire planet. Therefore we have to treat each major local problem as a global concern from the moment it begins. We can no longer invoke the national, racial or ideological barriers that separate us without destructive repercussion. In the context of our new interdependence, considering the interests of others is clearly the best form of self-interest.

I view this fact as a source of hope. The necessity for cooperation can only strengthen mankind, because it helps us recognize that the most secure foundation for the new world order is not simply broader political and economic alliances, but rather each individual’s genuine practice of love and compassion. For a better, happier, more stable and civilized future, each of us must develop a sincere, warm-hearted feeling of brother and sisterhood”…Dalai Lama. (read more)

The Sacred Hoop Of Healing

In a Dream of Vision
In a Place where Hearts reside and are
Consumed in Grief
I saw not Anger nor Retribution
Not the Face of Hatred nor of Despair
But the Clear and All Encompassing
Heart Of All That Is
I saw Each One Stand
Mother Father Brother each
Child of the Seventh Generation
In Peace and Understanding
And Facing His Brother His Sister
Each Child of Their Children's Children
Wrapped his Heart around....
And kissing the Tears on the
Tear stained face of the One he Held
Released His Own Pain
And when he had opened himself
To Receive
Unconditionally the pain and
unbearable sorrow of his Brother
Only then When Each had Received
The Healing of each and every Heart
Would raise their eyes to Wanbli
To All That Is
In utter Acceptance and Resolve
Making the Unimaginable
Grief of each and every Heart
His Own
Would we Heal
And as their hearts and hands reached out
Would open their own Hearts
To become that Hollow Bone of
Acceptance and Responsibility of
All That Is
And in Unified Silence
Take upon themselves
The Duty and the Honour
Which is Each Our Own
Of allowing each hand
And Every Heart
To take up and to Receive
and hold closer than Forever
The River Of Tears Of All Mankind
The River Of Tears Of Humankind
As One Swift Uptaking Breath
Of All That Is
Is made our Own.

Camp Hope

“hip hip hooray”

Chilean rescuers moving at a rapid pace pressed ahead with the operation to free 33 men trapped half a mile below the earth’s surface for more than two months.

Rescuers freed the 27th miner as family members and hundreds of international media held vigil. The pace of the rescues quickened throughout the day, with some men rising to safety within 30 minutes of each other.

The 26th miner rescued, Claudio Acuña, 34, has worked in mining about 10 years. According to CNN, he’s married, has a daughter and is the youngest of eight brothers.

“We have lived a magical night, a night we will remember throughout our lives, a night in which life defeated death,” declared Chilean President Sebastian Piñera, who welcomed the miners as they emerged from the rescue pod one at a time. (latimes)

Mama’s little baby

Put on the skillet,
Slip on the lid,
Mama’s gonna make
A little short’nin’ bread.
That ain’t all
She’s gonna do,
Mama’s gonna make
A little coffee, too.

Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread.

Three little children,
Lyin’ in bed
Two were sick
And the other ‘most dead
Sent for the doctor
And the doctor said,
“Give those children some
Short’nin’ bread.”

Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread.

Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread.

When those children,
Sick in bed,
Heard that talk
About short’nin’ bread,
Popped up well
To dance and sing,
Skipped around and cut
The pigeon wing.

Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread.

Slip to the kitchen,
Slip up the led,
Filled my pockets full of
Short’nin’ bread;
Stole the skillet,
Stole the led,
Stole the gal makin’
Short’nin’ bread.

Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread.

Caught me with the skillet,
Caught me with the led,
Caught me with the gal makin’
Short’nin’ bread;
Paid six dollars for the skillet,
Six dollars for the led,
Spent six months in jail eatin’
Short’nin’ bread.

Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’, short’nin’,
Mama’s little baby loves
Short’nin’ bread.

The Simpsons

The Simpsons is an American animated television sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical parody of a working class American lifestyle epitomized by its eponymous family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional city of Springfield, and lampoons American culture, society, television and many aspects of the human condition.

The family was conceived by Groening shortly before a pitch for a series of animated shorts with the producer James L. Brooks. Groening created a dysfunctional family and named the characters after members of his own family, substituting Bart for his own name. The shorts became a part of The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. After a three-season run, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and was an early hit for Fox, becoming the first Fox series to land in the Top 30 ratings in a season (1989–1990).

Since its debut on December 17, 1989 the show has broadcast 451 episodes and the twenty-first season began airing on September 27, 2009. The Simpsons Movie, a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide on July 26 and July 27, 2007, and grossed US$527 million worldwide.

The Simpsons has won dozens of awards since it debuted as a series, including 25 Primetime Emmy Awards, 26 Annie Awards and a Peabody Award. Time magazine’s December 31, 1999 issue named it the 20th century’s best television series, and on January 14, 2000 the Simpson family was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and in 2009 it surpassed Gunsmoke as the longest running American primetime entertainment series. Homer’s exclamatory catchphrase “D’oh!” has been adopted into the English lexicon, while The Simpsons has influenced many adult-oriented animated sitcoms.
